VOTE @Willymac for Witness!

Hello, Weku family!

This is my re-introduction to Weku;
this time as a Witness candidate.

I'm Will. My first name is William. Middle name Mac; hence the Willymac.

First off, I would appreciate a Witness vote from you.

The main duties of a Witness are to maintain and safeguard an exact copy of the Weku blockchain, and to protect the integrity of the information stored within the chain. In effect, each of the 30 Witnesses will maintain a secure copy of all the Weku transactions to make certain no one person or group can do any harm.

My past work experience has been varied, beginning with degrees in Accounting, Finance, and an MBA. After adding military service, then becoming a Financial Analyst, a Company Controller, the Director of Planning and Research for a public health laboratory, a Senior Systems Analyst, and Director of Database Management, I have had a wide range of management experiences over 35 years in making things function.

I work well as part of a team and understand that a team has a single goal and is managed by a single person. At the same time, I am an independent thinker and form my own opinions. I like people who play by the rules, and I have zero tolerance for people who do not.

My occupation in real life now is being retired. In addition to being the best job I ever had, it gives me time to indulge myself in things I like to do.

First off, I love living in the woods, in the country, and being away from the city is like being on vacation.

We have three dogs and an Emu, and play host to deer, raccoons, opossums, foxes, a multitude of squirrels, Canada geese, a Great Blue Heron, and lots of birds.

Mike the Dog, is my creature companion. We talk a lot and he helps me in planning, sorting out problems, and other intellectual endeavors. Actually, he mostly looks at me and listens, but that’s a big help. He loves riding in the truck so he can watch me drive.

Good boy, Mike!

I also like woodworking and using my Amateur Radio equipment, communicating by Morse code and digital transmissions with other Hams over the world.

I love writing and do it as a form of self-expression. I have written three books, published on Amazon.com) and am working on a fourth (slowed down considerably since joining the Weku family!)

My better half supports me in all my activities, and, since she maintains the family “to-do” list, I spend less time on some of the above than I do in maintaining the outdoor areas.

Swan, my better half, was born in North Vietnam. I was born in the Southern United States.

Is this a wonderful world, or what?

Will

Voted! Weku is getting more and more safe, thanks @willymac, you rock!

·

Thank you, my good friend and mentor.

Mes amitiés à votre famille, s'il vous plaît. Vous en avez peut-être aussi.

You're one of the most capable and attentive people Weku has. You deserve to be a witness for your impeccable reputation and good heart. I support you, my friend! I am sure you will get many votes in your favor because you deserve them.

·

Thank you, Eli. Comments like that mean more to me than does a vote!

My friend, welcome aboard the ship Weku from now on we will have to work a little more because we are also responsible for keeping this ship afloat.

·

Thank you, Joel. You got here first!

I have mental images of spending my life patching holes!

·
·

fixing holes hahaha, well here at weku you'll polish yourself doing that job, I didn't know you'd written a book about swan.

·
·
·

I don't mind patching holes. In fact, the best jobs I ever had were doing that. Every hole has a cause, and finding the cause is the fun part.

Yep, Leaving Saigon is a real-life novel about a family living in the middle of a war: escape from a country, poverty, black market activity, social change, battlefield combat, escape by boat, political prison, and freedom. Every bit of it true!

You get my first witness vote out of 30, the quality of your posts alone makes it a good choice.

·

I do appreciate that comment on my posts. I try to make my posts ones my family would approve of if they saw them.

I am so happy to see that you are a witness, I voted for you, I feel very proud to be your friend. I know how much time you invest in this, with you our family will be safe. Thank you for your time and dedication. We Are Weku.

·

Yes, there is a lot of background work that never shows on Weku pages, and that means I don't have any time to post a photo. That makes it appear that I have disappeared from my blog but I hope my friends will understand. I miss the posting part!

Absolutely and I thank you for being able to do this. You are responsible enough, mature enough, dedicated enough, and it turns out technical enough. Perfect. I really really don't want this platform ruined by witnesses of poor character let's call it like on Steemit. I happily voted for you as it would be good for this platform. Thanks again!

·

Thank you, S.B.

I agree about the Steemit problem. Weku users need to understand how very important it is to prevent selfish and dishonest people from becoming witnesses. The bad guys organize, support each other, and take over. You have to vote against that to prevent it.

Got you this mornin when I went to vote for @whitelist! Interesting life )I had a feeling you were a Nam guy) and beautiful country, better half and dog (not necessarily in that order)

·

I agree about the better half and the dog: they are both exceptional and good listeners and I deserve them!

·
·

The pastoral setting where you live looks good too!

·
·
·

I agree, Rich. It is the most important part of maintaining my peace of mind. Just being outdoors and not being able to see evidence of other humans and hearing only echoes of civilization is as close to perfect as I could want.

·
·
·
·

I know what you mean... I live in a small city, just the right size. I can get whatever I want (even a decent NY style pizza), never get stuck in traffic and be in the woods in half an hour.

·
·
·
·
·

We alll have to live in cages. At least we are fortunate enough to be able to choose one we can be more comfortable with. It is sad that so many people live in one and do not realize it. Maybe they are more fortunate than we think we are.

·
·
·
·
·
·

Once you take that red pill there's no going back!

·
·
·
·
·
·
·

"Here, take one of these. You eyes will open, you will see the world as it is, and you will never go back to a place that never really was."

How's that?

For sure!!
Well done and good luck with that. I can see your 'CV' is well balanced for the task. And frankly with my interactions with you I can see that youre a a decent man, that has an opinion on matters, and is not scared to take a stand either.
All the best for this.....as we say (in slang) in South Africa....GOOI HOM PAPPIE!!

·

Thank you for the compliment. It is rare to receive such warm, positive compliments, and I'm going to save this one to pull out and review during those other times when it seems the world is falling apart

·
·

Maybe that's what Bruce Springsteen was referring to in Glory Days, where you refer to those things in your past that builds you up when battling. We ALL need those positives.

·
·
·

Ahhh..The Boss had it right! The 70s, 80s, and 90s were a straight run of glory days for me and I got stuck there. With such music and memories, no improvements are needed and nothing to regret.

·
·
·
·

Well I'm with you....loved the memories of those days.
But there are some blessings of the present I love too

·
·
·
·
·

Oh, I agree that the blessings continue. Unfortunately, as our time passes, it seems that the opportunity for bad news increases as our circle of friends shrinks, and I defensively spend more and more time back in my glory days when life seemed more resilient.

You have received a positive vote from @hadrien.rivere. We Are Weku !!

·

Thank you, new family member and teammate! You also had my vote.

You have my vote will :)

·

Thank you, team mate and friend!

Did this yesterday, forgot to mention how happy i was to see you right up there in the list. I know you can do a lot better than a lot of others. Congratulations and Good luck for the job sir willymac

ilk defa bu yazınızla tanıdım sizi, tebrik ederim başarılı olacağınıza inanıyorum 🌼

·

Thank you!

I had already voted for you before you posted this.

·

Impressive and flattering! Thank you for the vote of confidence and for your interest in the process. I know most of the witnesses on the list and every one is strongly supportive of keeping this a WEKU platform and not a copy of the other one.

·
·

Perhaps, but you're the only witness I trust to do the right thing when push comes to shove. My faith in Weku doesn't quite match yours, I'm afraid.

·
·
·

I have worked with these folks and have seen their written thoughts, plans, and frustrations, and i believe them all to be honest and have Weku's best interests at heart. The path to that success is determined by many factors and external views of choices are most often limited. The successes Busters has had on Weku's health are not generally known, but it is far healthier and a cleaner platform than it was.

Yes, I trust Siamcat and all the others to do the best for Weku. We are still in midstream and rowing hard. Don't listen to a disgruntled arsonist explain why he wanted to get even by burning the office building down because he did not get his way. There is always more to every story.

·
·
·
·

I listen to no one; I just draw conclusions from what I see happening, and my background is a great help with that. I will go as far as saying that Weku is salvageable, which is more than can be said for, say, Bearshares. I'm hoping for the best, but I don't do faith; I don't pray that way.

·
·
·
·
·

I do listen to others.

·
·
·
·
·
·

Be careful out there. Just saying.

·

·

Thank you, friend. I am aware of the cracks in the ice and the yet unseen stress forces. There is evil intent from unnamed sources at work.

·

Thank you for your vote, Toby.

It has been so long since I used my rig in xmt, I may have forgotten how! I often use the PC in the shack when I'm writing and i keep it running in the bottom end of the 20 m CW segment to keep my ear tuned. I have not made a voice contact in ten years. CW has always been my preference. Digital modes are replacing that, but i like the nostalgia of the CW sound and efficiency.

·
·

I was happy to vote for you! A Witness with guard dogs to keep him in line, LOL!

When I took my general CW test a LONG time ago, they misspelled Boston Mass, and I spelled it right (I knew what it was by then) and they dinged me for spelling it right, so I was one short. I got a Tech, ticket, and a bad taste for CW. I have been mostly local on FM mobile, But I have a solid set to cover most anything now. I will set up once we get moved.

That CW test was 30 years ago, I guess I should get over my mad and try to speed up my CW, LOL!

:)>

·
·
·

They did that to me! They sent RST 5dd and i thought ( as much as you can during a 20 wpm blitz) that can't be right, and wrote 599. Just before I turned my note in, I changed back to "5dd'cause that's what I thought heard, even if it was nonsense. Eleven of us took the test and I was the lucky one to get the dirty trick right.

I do best reading CW when I don't pay any attention to it. I just know what was sent after the sentence is done. Usually. Sometimes.

·
·
·
·

I would have been okay, except a guy next to me, stormed out cussing about half way through. Cost me several answers.

:)>

·
·
·
·
·

Have to admit, that was a stressful event. I was so keyed up on adrenaline It was like I had taken bennies. I put a lot of time into practicing with a trainer on the PC running at 22 wpm but it was a lot different sitting at that desk waiting for the message to start!

·
·
·
·
·
·

Yes, the guy blowing up next to me didn't help that much either. But I survived it, LOL! The kantronics interface does well on code, and doesn't get flustered.

Most interesting.

You got my vote and I wish all the best.

Does anybody know to whom I have to talk to setup a witness node?

I have the team and the servers, but need to get the "allowance" to run it.

·

I didn't get an allowance and do not know of any who did.

The announcement for the application process is forthcoming after Weku goes public in April and will include the application procedure. That's all I know at the moment.

·
·

Thanks @willymac, let's see what will happen.
